About the event
Beyond Access: Who Keeps Children Safe Online Once They Are Connected?
EDDS Institute at APrIGF 2026 - Kathmandu & Online
As Internet access expands across the Asia-Pacific, a critical question remains: who helps children and families navigate digital life once they are connected?
At APrIGF 2026, EDDS Institute joins regional partners from Cambodia, Vietnam, India and New Zealand to explore how trusted community institutions - including libraries, community learning centres and local networks - can become part of the infrastructure for meaningful connectivity, digital resilience and child online safety.
Drawing on community experience, comparative research and regional practice, the session will examine what happens after connectivity arrives, and what communities need to navigate misinformation, online harms, exploitation and rapidly evolving technologies, including AI.
