The Crisis of EdTech and AI: What Should We Do About It?
Education is being transformed by AI and commercial technologies at unprecedented speed. Yet many parents, teachers and education professionals are increasingly asking a deeper question: what kind of educational future is being built, and who gets to decide?
This event brings together:
Professor Nick Couldry (London School of Economics), one of the world's leading scholars of media, platforms and data power, who will help us think about how to name and understand the current crisis with AI.
Nicola Hawkins (National Education Union), chair of the NEU's AI in Education Working Group, who will bring the perspective of schools, teachers and educational practice.
Hosted and moderated by Veli Hillman (EDDS Institute), whose work focuses on auditing EdTech and AI and examining their implications for children's wellbeing, learning and development.
