Policy & Practice
EDDS Institute develops practical approaches to improve the governance of education technology and AI. Our work connects independent research with policy, standards and implementation to help education systems make better-informed decisions. Policy alone does not change systems. It must be supported by practical methods, independent evaluation and institutions capable of implementation.
Our priorities
We believe effective governance requires more than regulation alone. It requires evidence, practical methods and shared standards that can be applied consistently across education systems.
Independent assurance
Promote independent evaluation of education technologies before they are widely adopted in schools.
Better procurement
Support evidence-informed procurement that considers safety, privacy, security and educational quality alongside functionality and cost.
Children’s rights
Embed children’s rights, wellbeing and developmental needs throughout the design, procurement and governance of education technology.
Whole-system governance
Support approaches that consider education technology across policy, health, safeguarding, cybersecurity and public administration rather than in isolation.
Evidence before adoption
Encourage decisions based on independent evidence rather than marketing claims, trustmarks or self-certification.
