EDDS Institute, in partnership with Access 4 Learning (A4L), announces the launch of the Global Educational Security Standards (GESS) auditing service—an independent, evidence-based audit and certification offering for education technology providers.

GESS is purpose-built for the education sector, addressing the specific cybersecurity, data protection, and operational realities of schools and edtech—unlike enterprise security frameworks.
GESS represents one core pillar within the broader EDDS assessment framework, which integrates cybersecurity, data protection, human rights, ethical, and governance dimensions into a unified approach for evaluating education technology and AI systems used in education.
Independent audits
EDDS is onboarding vendors for GESS audit certification. The service is designed to deliver robust and independent assurance through a structured and proportionate model across the GESS framework.
Each audit provides:
Evidence-based review and verification
Transparent traffic-light scoring
A versioned report and 12-month certification
Actionable remediation guidance
The model is designed to be more accessible than enterprise certifications (e.g. SOC 2, ISO, NIST), while maintaining a rigorous, independent assessment approach.
Why engage now
As expectations on cybersecurity assurance continue to rise—particularly across school systems and districts—vendors are increasingly expected to demonstrate independently verified practices.
GESS offers:
A fast, independent signal of trust, reducing friction in procurement
A clear, comparable benchmark for schools and partners
A practical pathway toward alignment with an emerging global standard for edtech assurance
Initial audit slots are limited to an early cohort.
A team representative will respond within 48 hours to schedule a short onboarding call.
